John Peterson was born in Pasadena, California on March 25, 1953 and passed away on June 3, 2024 in Plano, Texas. He was preceded in death by both his parents, Wayne and Donna Peterson. Survived by his Step Mother, Gloria Peterson, Aunt, Yolanda Gonzalez, sister, Charlene Johnston, her husband, Scott Johnston, wife of 48 years, Nancy Peterson, and 3 children: David and his wife Andrea Peterson, Renee Rainey, and Eric Peterson and his wife Erin Peterson. Grandchildren: Kaitlin Klouda and husband Michael Klouda, Korrie Peterson, Braden Rainey, Audrey Rainey, Mackenzie Peterson, Thomas Peterson, JD Board and great grandchildren Juniper Klouda, Logan Klouda and Melanie Klouda. He is also survived by sister in laws: Joyce Powell, Patricia Draper, Alma Ruth Kellam, Betsy Blount and many beloved nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by beloved brother in-laws: William Boone, Mike Kellam and Ray Gatlin; sister in-law, Sue Gatlin. He loved his TV partner, Teddy (the family dog) and his country. He served in the US Navy on the destroyer, Floyd B. Parks, during the Vietnam War. He received several honors for his service: two Bronze Stars, Combat Action Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Honorable Discharge Button and an award for Unseen Wounds. He battled the effects of Agent Orange as a result of his service.
John was devoted to God, his wife and family. He spent many hours reading the bible. He was a Christian who loved to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. He obtained a National B license for coaching soccer and coached all 3 of his children for many years. John was the best grandpa ever. He loved watching and encouraging all his children and grandchildren in their endeavors and celebrating their accomplishments. He especially loved watching the grandkids play soccer, baseball, softball and their special events. He was very proud of his family. He was an avid music and movie fan, spending many hours in his theater room. He enjoyed instilling his love for music and movies with his family.
He was a genius when it came to computer programming and successfully built several computer programs. He was great at building and designing homes, entertainment systems, cabinets and patios. He was an amazing do it yourself kind of guy. If there was a need he found a way to fill it. He was an entrepreneur in insurance sales, computer programming, mortgage broker and mortgage loan officer. He enjoyed working closely with his best friend, George Peralta in his early years. They sold a lot of insurance. His last career was in home loans. He was a mortgage loan officer and he befriended many associates during his time working at Bank of America.
Due to his high standards, morals, honesty, work ethic, love of country, life and family; he and his wife raised 3 wonderful successful children, David Peterson, Renee Rainey and Eric Peterson. They have continued to pass on all the wonderful qualities to their beautiful and wonderful children. John was a loving devoted husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, son, brother, brother-in law, uncle and more. John was extremely charismatic. Everyone loved his positive, funny and easy disposition. John never had a negative word regarding others and always look to find the good in others. He was the strongest Christian and always stood up for what he believed. He loved teaching about Revelations, the Rapture and the afterlife. A few adjectives frequently used to describe him were kind, happy, positive, honest, strong character, strong morals, sincere, loving, generous, helpful, sharing, caring, hard-worker, intelligent and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He loved to socialize and communicate his values and points of view.
There will be a huge hole to fill in the lives of John's family and friends. Please pray for his family and friends. John was the bright light that helped his family shine.
