Travis Sullivan passed away peacefully on August 8, 2022. He left to join his fellow Marines to guard the streets of heaven.
Travis Daniel Sullivan Sr. was born to Theodore Irvin Sullivan and Frances Elizabeth Russell Sullivan on April 8, 1934, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was a very joyous day. He was the third of four children.
After receiving public education in Tulsa, he graduated from The University of Tulsa with a Business Administration degree and moved to Dallas, Texas, in 1957. He went to work for the accounting firm Arthur Anderson.
During that time, he went into the United States Marine Corps where he served with distinction as a Captain in Beirut, Lebanon.
On April 8, 1958, he married the love of his life, Sally Carol Boyce.
After being honorably discharged from the Marines he was employed at another accounting firm. He was the audit partner of one of the firm's largest clients for 13 years in Dallas.
Travis became a Texas and Oklahoma CPA in 1962 and an officer in the Texas Society of CPAs.
He joined the Kiwanis International Club of Dallas and became President of The Dallas Club, District Treasurer of Texas-Oklahoma District, and General Chairman of the 1977 International Convention. Travis was also a member of Knife and Fork Club in Dallas and was President for one year. He earned an MBA from SMU and was an Adjunct Professor of Accounting at The University of Dallas.
Travis was a member of Fifth Church of Christ, Scientist, Dallas, for over 60 years. He was also a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston. He retired from a long and impressive CPA career on December 31, 2021.
He is survived by the love of his life, Sally Boyce Sullivan, and their two children: Suzanne (Suzy) Sullivan Englert and husband, David, and Travis Daniel (Dan) Sullivan, Jr., and wife, Eve; two grandchildren: Travis Daniel Sullivan III (Trevor), and Samantha Anne Sullivan; his brother, Richard Sullivan and wife, Rita.
A service in celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Gaston Christian Center, 8515 Greenville Avenue in Dallas (corner of Royal and Greenville) at 2:00pm.
A private burial service will take place at the National Veterans Cemetery in Grand Prairie, Texas.
